Holy Crap man... This is the Full cast list for the Sin City Movie... Dude. Bruce Willis is Hartigan, Mickey Rourke is Marv... and in the strangest casting choice of all... Josh Hartnett as Dwight. Clive Owen is also in the film although at present his part is unnamed.

I now need to change my pants. Boyhowdy.

I think my favorite Ed Burns documentary was probably "Sidewalks of New York," where he talked about, you know, the deteriorating conditions of New York's finest sidewalks.

Firstly, I agree. I think his films are well made. I for one am waiting to see 'F9/11', not because i agree with his dubious politics, but because I think Michael Moore is a good filmmaker. Also.. i think he comes under the gun ehtically because... he lies. Secondly, I should have been more clear. I think that any theatrical documentary is... well like you said. I was just using this particular film as an example. Its a document from the filmakers point of view. Otherwise I think what we would be watching would be Ed Burns style documentaries... those long... endless... films... kind of like this paragraph.

Thirdly, I stand by my original statement. I infered from his quote the bombast to which I equate Michael Moore. I think he ment by {'The Cannes recognition of "Fahrenheit 9/11", [Moore] said, "will ensure that the American people will see this movie".'} exactly what I said. Maybe im reading into it too much, but its a Yahoo.com news article. And... I have been as of late reading up on the 'controversy' involving Disney's lack of enthusiasm toward distrubuting this film. If I read correctly (and with proper prescription glasses I hope I do) Moore knew about Disney's unwillingness to distribute the film a year ago. So... what controversy? Companies do this all the time. Someone is going to pick it up.. NOW.

the bit from that quote that makes me believe he thinks alot of people will see F9/11 are the words "the American people" everytime I see that I think a mass consensus of people. So I assumed he was implying a whole lot of people. And given, as youve said, the gross of Bowling for Columbine being what they were (Total Gross: $21,576,018
+ Overseas Gross: $36,432,405 in fact. according to boxofficemojo.com), and his rep if the movie is picked up and marketed well it should make bank. I hope so. I like to see people succeed. but thats not my point. sidetrack, sidetrack. So yeah, I hope that explains WHY I think what I think.

anyway... pigmies... I havent seen a new movie in... a month or so. I Havent even ventured out of my house to the googleplexes to see any of the Summer 'blockbusters'. Shrek 2? Hated the first one I think I'll pass. Troy? Mediocre reviews... plus... no one to go with. So there we are. Van Helsing? Roger Eibert raved about it... but thats about it. And I... it just doesnt do it for me... yeah. Also, no one to go see it with. Lack of enthusiasm? Oh yes.

I glad I have alot of DVDs. If you all get the chance Give ALien3 an chance. Not the Theatrical version. There is a new DVD out that offers a Special Edition. Its about as close to the mythic 'David Fincher Directors Cut' as there is ever going to be. It is basically a rougher version of what Fincher originally presented to the Fox boys before it was chopped up into the cinematic abortion that graced screens in 1991. Characters are given greater depth, certain situations play out better, and the pacing isnt hacked to hell. Where as I HATED ALien 3, I now really quite enjoy it. Mostly Charles S. Dutton. Roc has the best lines in that whole movie.

Moore wins Top Prize at Cannes for "Fahrenheit 9/11"

Well. Click this. Its an interesting story. This is the first Documentary to win the Palme D'or ever. according to the piece. I almost feel like placing documentary in quotes. Heh.

I also find this bit funny. 'The Cannes recognition of "Fahrenheit 9/11", [Moore] said, "will ensure that the American people will see this movie".' How many of you saw Gus Van Zant's 'Elephant' after it won the Palme D'or last year? I did. and let me tell you, it was more effective than 'Bowling for Columbine' in its anti-gun message. But no one saw it. Well, not the large audience that a film like 'Elephant' requires. In fact, the statement that Moore thinks the American people give a good God-Damn about Cannes is naive and idiotic.

Sure, it may get a distributor. And I hope it does. Any company that doesnt pick it up NOW would be a fool. I generally dont like Moore, but all personal feelings aside, his work deserves to be seen. At least on the merits that he is a good filmmaker. Regardless of his ethical uses of 'documentary' filmmaking.

Maybe its just me.. but i find that bit fun.

anyway, good for Michael Moore and good for his movie. I hope he gets a distributor and makes a wad of fat cash off this film.

FUN STUFF.

DreamLogic reports that: "KILL BILL to be released UNCUT Just read in the latest Fangoria that following the release of Kill Bill Vol 2, the two Japanese cuts will be put together and the film will be released as one uncut NC-17 film. Following that theatrical release is when it will hit dvd on the special edition. Not saying I'm exactly excited, but at least Quentin's ode to Grindhouse cinema will have a time when it shows under a rating more suitable for grindhouse fare. There's just something so pussy about an R rated grindhouse flick..."

So, ah, that's cool. Word.

Also, I really liked Volume 2, because like Alison said, it was classically bad, but it was classically bad in the sense that most of the movies it was intended as homage to tend to generally make you feel warm and fuzzy inside, like a short nap between sex and dinner. So, to paraphrase: Kill Bill 2 is like sex, a nap, and some food. You heard it here first.

Also, since I haven't posted in a while, I'd like to mention that Dawn of the Dead was fucking incredible, and that Eternal Sunshine is still pretty good the third time around, even if you're working off two and a half hours of sleep. CSI is pretty neat.
