Holy Friggin Crap!

"DESTINO - Opens Exclusively Friday, January 30th at the River Oaks

The lost collaboration between Walt Disney and Salvador Dali comes to
the screen almost 50 years later! The never-before-seen animated short
is set to a Spanish song, devoid of dialogue and without a linear story
line. It follows a dark-eyed ballerina on a journey among strange
objects through a desert landscape in a dreamlike atmosphere. It is a
love story as only Dali could envision it, complete with images of
ballerinas, baseball players, melting clocks, tuxedo-clad eyeballs, ants
that turn into bicyclists, and two giant heads carried on the backs of
the Fates (represented as giant turtles.)

DESTINO will run before each showing of TRIPLETS OF BELLEVILLE"

I'd go so far as to say that the Big Lebowski is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Yeah, I don't think there's too many more places I could go with that.

Moving in the Middle of the Fall

Most of the movies that I REALLY wanted to see this year I did not see. Mostly because they showed up in theatres during my move to Texas. Partly because they were only showing at a Landmark Theatre near me, which is in Houston. And I only figured out how to get there last month. It is an hour plus drive, and there is no one that wants to go with me. Imagine my shock and awe when I discovered that the Landmark branch here shows Midnight Runs ALL YEAR LONG. You can feel my rage when time and time again there is NO one that is remotely interested in seing the Re-Animator at Midnight. Also, Le Triplettes de Belleville? No one is interested in Cartoons here. I am in a cultural quagmire. Agrhh.

This is mainly the reason that I did not see any of the films I longed to see. Thankfully, Matchstick Men, Lost in Translation and American Splendor are all coming to DVD within the next few weeks. Huzzah!

Embarrassment
I saw Swimming Pool earlier this week, and though I really liked it, I thought it was weirder than shit. Last night, my mom watched it, and when I asked her what she thought of it, she gave me a detailed analysis of what it was actually about, starting with one key fact that I had somehow completely missed, making it all seem that much more logical, though still weirder than shit. For those of you who wish not to be spoiled, just watch it with the concept in mind that Sarah Morton might be her publisher's jilted mistress. Also, I liked it.

Wowzers, I'm really sucking so far as the "reviewing" thing is concerned here. Umm... The Ben Stiller Show was funny. Buy the DVD. Yay for consumerism! I'M HELPING THE ECONOMY! JUST LIKE GEORGIE W!!
